On 23 August 2017, the Port of Antwerp had the honour to welcome the container vessel Madrid Maersk for the first time in its harbour. The vessel was built in South-Korea and travels the international waters with a length of 399 meters under the Danish flag. During her trip from Tianjin to Antwerp in April 2016, the Madrid Maersk broke the record for the tallest ship ever arriving in the Port of Antwerp, with aboard enough space for 20.568 TEU, 1,000 reefer plugs and 28 crew members.
The Madrid Maersk is a part of the Maersk Triple E series, in which the three E’s stand for Economy Scale, Energy Efficiency and Environment; Values that we happily support.
Together with our partner Safmarine, some of our employees and a couple of our strategic partners had the opportunity to visit this impressive vessel. The international crew on board this ship took the time to show us around, from the engine room to the operations room. The captain also spoke to us about this huge vessel and all its features. It was a unique experience that resulted in a better understanding of the process regarding the logistics projects that we organise every day.
